Not Last, but close

I almost got last at the Estacada TT, but didn't. This Power-Tap thing has me going a little crazy. It's always the same thing at all the races, should I ride my fast, light and sexy Zipps or my 32 hole OpenPro PowerTap wheels? I think I have finally made a commitment to data collection and will be doing almost all my racing on the PT from now on. They will be the only wheels that go out to Walla Walla.

The thing that has me stuck is track racing. Does anyone have a 28 or 24 hole PT Pro (the old one) that I can build into a fixed gear wheel? Or does anyone know if you can build a 32 hole PT hub into a 28 or 24 hole carbon rim?

get a disc cover from excel sports, and race the power tap. its just as aero as a disc, and a hell of a lot cheaper than a new wheel. the weight penalty is more than made up for by the aerodynamics, unless it's a straight uphill-only 5%+ grade TT.

The disk cover seems to be the way to go for TTs. I think I am going to order one soon. But a PT for the track requires a different wheel with one of the old PT hubs so you can make it fixed.

steve i have built one wheel using a 28 hole rim with a 32 hole hub. I did it for road wheel to help keep the spokes more evenly tensioned given the dish (4:3 spoke ratio, drive to nondrive). the wheel went with my ex-gf, but i have plans to build some more, it made a very strong wheel. also i have done a 32 hole hub with a 24 hole rim (2:1 ratio). (the 32 and 28 stuff of course is much more readily available...) for Track of course don't usually have much dish.. but anyway it is possible.
